Annual Christmas Craft Fair

This year the craft fair will be held on Saturday the 6th of December from 10am until 3pm at the Crescent Beach Centre. Bookings for tables are now being taken, Please contact Katherine Slack at (902) 656 3123. We are working together with the Rec Department to ensure that this year's craft fair is better than ever!

Christmas by the Sea

This annual event is sponsored by local merchants, and is hosted at varying locations throughout the three days of the festival.

4th to the 7th of December

The Annual Christmas Bird Count

The Bird Count is an annual event held in mid-december where our resident bird population is counted.

Last year we held an introduction to birding with Donna Crosby, and we look forward to doing the same again this year, as well as adding to the main event.

In 2007 upwards of 80 different bird species were observed.

The Lockeport and Area Winter Fest

The winter fest is held each year, and is comprised of a number of activities, such as a snow sculpture contest, community skating, and a Friday night pickup Hockey game! There are also crib tournaments, basketball games and ball hockey tournaments.

For those with a keen eye for nature, there is also a winter discovery day. All of the events are held within the town of Lockeport, for more information please contact the Lockeport Rec Department at (902) 656 2565.

The Month of December...

Is a cold, harsh, and unwelcoming time of year in many parts of the Maritimes, but here in Lockeport, we have found our own special way to crank the heat up with a plethora of events in the winter months. If you are planning to be in town on a certain weekend, and would like to know what is going on around the town, please do not hesitate to call the Beach Centre @ (902) 656 3123 or the Lockeport Rec Department @ (902) 656 2565.

With the last monday in November being the start of Lobster season, there is no better time to be in Lockeport!

Our Signature festivals, are celebrations, that emphasize the South Shore way of life!

These are festivals, that no matter what the present time of year, people always look forward to!



The Lockeport Sea Derby

The 2009 Derby will be the 18th Annual Sea Derby here in Lockeport, making us the longest running Shark fishing tournament in Nova Scotia!

We are looking forward to seeing all of our participants again next year, and hopefully some new faces among them. The 2009 derby is shaping up to be more family centric than ever before, with children's drama productions, garden parties on the waterfront, and the return of crowd favorites, like Kiss The Codfish!

Harmony Bazaar

A project setup by the FishNet group, the Harmony Bazaar is a festival  that celebrates music, and the importance of women in the community.

The festival is a showcase of performing arts, arts, crafts and is designed to be interactive, with the Headliner's performing workshops throughout the week.

July 1st

Lockeport's Canada Day celebrations are famous around the world, with a large parade, and a week of festivities including live music, and more traditional events, such as the grease pole and dory races.
