About the Loop

The Eastern Shelburne County tourism destination area known locally as The Loop encompasses the Town of Lockeport and surrounding villages between Exits 23 and 24 in Sable River and Jordan Falls. This region of Nova Scotia's Lighthouse Route is renowned for its many white sand beaches, rugged Atlantic coastline and clear blue waters. We hope you will take the time to visit the area and experience its diverse cultures, eco-systems and marine heritage. Come for a few hours and see what so many others have already discovered....it won't be the last time we see you here.

If you're looking for peace and tranquility, quiet country charm and down home hospitality, then your search is over. The loop offers panoramic ocean vistas that rival any area on the east coast, breathtaking fall colors, and stunning fields of wild flowers that are compared to those found in Scotland. The famous Crescent Beach is a mile long white sand gem that provides countless hours of enjoyment for those who return each year.

Spend time along the shore and watch the colorful fishing boats in action or visit the wharves to listen to local lore and stories about the big one that got away. Lockeport Harbour, Allendale Bay and Green Harbour are a kayakers paradise where paddlers can explore small islands, secluded beaches and photograph the lighthouses at Carter's Island and Gull Rock. If spending time on the fine white sand and picturesque shores of Eastern Shelburne County isn't enough, hikers and bikers will find trail systems meandering through the countryside in Sable River and Jordan Falls. A self-guided walking tour of Lockeport will be of interest to history and architectural buffs as you're led throughout the island community to lay witness to our rich heritage at the Icelandic Settlement Cairn and the Locke Family Heritage Streetscape. Birdwatching enthusiasts will find a visit to Matthew's Lake in Little Harbour a must as many a birder has added a rare species to their life list at this tidal estuary.
