Amenities and Services

What many people find appealing about the Town of Lockeport is its size. Formerly called Locke's Island, the town is situated on an isthmus now connected to the mainland by a causeway and the beach. The area is a little more than a mile long from the end of Sam's Point to Bridge and Point streets and approximately one half mile wide. Within the town's core and less than five minutes walk from all the major parking areas, visitors will find three restaurants, an old time village grocery store, pharmacy, bank, hardware store, bowling alley and flower shop. What is even more amazing is that you will generally see the Atlantic Ocean in every direction.

Across the causeway and at the entrance to the island,  you will find the Crescent Beach Centre; a one of a kind Visitor Information Center that overlooks the beach and the ocean.

More than just a tourist bureau, this building sells clothing and other souvenirs from the Lockeport area and plays host to a number of musical events and art exhibits.

Seacaps Memorial Park is located between Howe and Hall Street in the center of town. It includes an amazing marine theme playground that provides hours of entertainment for children of all ages, the Town Pavilion and covered bandstand which is used for musical events such as the "Festival of Women and Song" and the "Canada Day Rock Concert". Many other activities will also be held in this park throughout the coming year.

Lockeport is also home to a full service port which is the warmest on the east coast of Canada. It is also only ten minutes from the docks to the shipping lanes and the open sea. There is also a privately owned marina/floating dock system in the inner harbour which is well protected by two large breakwaters. Amenities are all within a five minute walk from the wharf for those of you who need to stock up on provisions for the next leg of your journey.
